Last year, RM Auctions held a special Ford-themed sale during the Monterey car week, offering a unique chance to buy various Ford concept cars built in the last decade. While that was a one-time event, RM is once again be working with Ford to auction off a select number of concept cars for this year.

First up is the Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept, first introduced to the public at Pebble Beach in 2004. Built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Shelby Daytona Coupe, the car features a silver paint scheme with blue stripes and 12-spoke 19-inch wheels. Unfortunately, the car is not a running example, unlike the polished aluminum version that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show a few months later.

Next up is the Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster Concept that was first shown at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show. A precursor to the Ford Thunderbird production car, the Sports Roadster is set apart by a molded fiberglass tonneau that’s neatly integrated into the rear decklid.

As is custom for Ford when auctioning off cars, proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity. The sale of the two concept cars, each valued between 5,000 and 0,000, will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

The Monterey car week is just a month away, and we’re starting to get a good idea of what’s in store for us come August. One of the highlights of the week are the auctions, particularly the one put on by RM Auctions, and the lineup of cars going across the block is looking very impressive. We’ve already told you about a beautiful 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Grand Raid Roadster and a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza, and now a pair of ex-Steve McQueen cars have been added to the list.

First up is a 1970 Porsche 911S that was delivered to McQueen while he was on the set of the movie Le Mans. The car actually made an appearance in several of the movie’s opening scenes and is in mostly original condition with just 12,400 miles. In addition to belonging to McQueen, this particular Porsche has also passed through the collections of Otis Chandler and Jerry Seinfeld, who is the current seller of the car.

Next up is a 1953 Siata 208/S Spider that was purchased by McQueen in 1956. Since then, the car has passed through several owners and has most recently taken to the show circuit with appearances at the Pebble Beach Concours, Quail Motorsports Gathering and Concorso Italiano. The Siata has recently been refurbished with period-correct components, including the 2.0-liter V8 producing 115 horsepower.

July 8 is National Collector’s Car day, and to celebrate, eBay Motors is hosting an auction that should break the site’s record for the most expensive vehicle ever sold through the site. One of the nine remaining General Motors Futurliners is set to fetch millions of dollars on the site as its auction runs from June 8 to 18.

This particular example has been meticulously restored by Peter Pan Bus Lines over a total of three years. The 400-horsepower leviathan is 33 feet long and just shy of 12 feet tall. When it was built for the 1939 New York World’s Fair, it cost GM around million in today’s dollars. (Those of you with long memories may recall that a similar example shattered Barrett-Jackson records when it hammered at .1M in 2006).

After the World’s Fair, the 12 Futurliners toured the U.S. under the “Parade of Progress” banner, showing the nation the technology of, well, the future. Each bus opened up to display the science behind microwaves, jet propulsion and the like. This particular example was exhumed from a New York corn field in 1997 before being massaged back to life by Coach Builders of Springfield, Massachusetts.
