The Porsche Club of America has teamed up with Porsche Classic to completely restore a basket-case 1973 911 T Coupe. The project is designed to highlight Porsche Classic’s capabilities as a full-on restorer with the kind of tools that only a factory-backed effort can boast. Along with inside-information on how the car was assembled thanks to workers on staff who helped put 911 models together on the factory line in the ’70s, Porsche Classic also has the benefit of some of the most skilled craftsmen around.
As part of the project, Porsche Classic is keeping everyone updated on the rebuild, unleashing a bevy of photos with each stage of the restoration. Right now, the company has made it all the way through disassembly and sorting out the car’s transmission. The 911 is slated to be finished in time for the 2011 Porsche Parade in August of next year, after which time it will be auctioned off. You can bet your lederhosen that the car will be as pristine as the day it rolled out of the factory doors when the owner takes the keys. Hit the jump to take a look at a video introducing the project. Be sure to check out the build site, too.
